Nicolas Cage

My favourite Cage film is Con Air. I can't explain why but this movie has the right music, scene and staff. I like many other movies of Cage and I would like to give his filmography in chronological order with a very short description.

FILMOGRAPHY

FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH (1982, COMEDY)

This was Nic's first film. A big disappointment, his part was cut. You do however get to see him standing in the background behind the counter at The All-American Burger. Nic appears in the credits as "Brad's Bud".

RUMBLE FISH (1983, DRAMA)

Nic decided to take a small part in this film after his big bummer in "Fast Times". This was one of his Uncle Francis' movies, and well, it wasn't that good.

VALLEY GIRL (1983, COMEDY)

Nicolas first used the name Cage in this movie. He plays a young, Hollywood, punk-rocker.

RACING WITH THE MOON (1984, DRAMA)

This movie is about two friends wasting their time, waiting to get drafted in the WWII. Very Fun Movie.

THE COTTON CLUB (1984, DRAMA)

This is also a film directed by Nicolas's Uncle Francis. Nicolas plays an overjealous gangster, it's an ok movie, you may not want to waste your time with it.

BIRDY (1984, DRAMA)

Great movie! This movie is about a vietnam vet trying to help his friend and himself recover from war trama.

PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED (1986, COMEDY/DRAMA)

Nicolas plays the high-school husband of a young girl who feels she got married too young. At their prom, she has a near death experience. Good movie with a happy ending, however, Cage did take a lot of heat from the critics for the way in which he played this character.

THE BOY IN BLUE (1986, DRAMA)

Let's just say this movie sucks. It's only worth seeing if you want to see a muscle bound Nicolas.

RAISING ARIZONA (1987, COMEDY)

This is one of Nic's best. He plays an ex-con trying to settle down. Too bad he kidnapped a baby first. Very clever movie.

MOONSTRUCK (1987, ROMANTIC COMEDY)

Cage changed his character a bit in this movie. He plays a baker who's out of love until he meets the character played by Cher. This movie is a must see!!!!!

NEVER ON TUESDAY (1988)

Nicolas starred in this movie uncredited. From what I understand, it was a very minor role.

VAMPIRES KISS (1989, COMEDY)

Nicolas plays a New-Yorker who completely loses his mind. And for all of you fans who like to be grossed out, Cage eats a live COCKROACH in this one.

ZANDALEE (1990, DRAMA)

In this movie, Nic dances with the judge, curses in church, and on and on. You may like it, you may not.

WILD AT HEART (1990, ROMANTIC DRAMA)

This is a must see. Nic and Laura play two lovers, and, well, you'll just have to see it to believe it.

TIME TO KILL (1990, DRAMA)

Great film about an Italian soldier trying to fight his way through the war and get home.

FIREBIRDS (1990, ACTION)

It's an ok movie if you're into some action. It's kinda funny at some parts even though it's not supposed to be.

RED ROCK WEST (1992, THRILLER)

A pretty good movie. Nicolas plays a guy who is mistaken for a hit man. Nic's character is in need of some money, so he go's along with it. All is going ok, then bang, he falls in love with the woman he's supposed to kill.

HONEYMOON IN VEGAS (1992, COMEDY)

This movie is about a guy who loses his wife in a gamble, and the rest of the movie he trys to get her back. It's a pretty good movie and very funny.

DEADFALL (1993, COMEDY)

This movie was directed by Nicolas's brother, Christopher. Nic is pretty funny in this one (not to mention his fake nose). It's a pretty good movie if you are someone who would like a laugh here or there.

AMOS AND ANDREW (1993, COMEDY)

Nic plays a house robber who takes a guy hostage. I don't know, but I think this movie was supposed to be racist or something, oh well, it's a pretty good movie.

TRAPPED IN PARADISE (1994, COMEDY)

Pretty much in a nutshell, this movie is about three brothers that are bank robbers. Oh, well, if you must, go and see it, but I don't recommend it.

IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU (1994, ROMANTIC COMEDY)

Good Movie. It's just one of those funny movies that everyone likes. Nic's character is real sweet, and very enjoyable. It's about fate that could happen even to you!

GUARDING TESS (1994, COMEDY)

Nic plays a secret service agent protecting a widower. A funny movie that's a must see.

KISS OF DEATH (1995, DRAMA)

Nicolas Cage plays a New York gangster. His character could have been a little more freakish, but all and all, it was a great movie.

LEAVING LAS VEGAS (1995, DRAMA)

Nicolas plays an alcoholic that moves to Vegas from Las Angeles to drink himself to death. He moves from a hotel into a great, big house after meeting a hooker, Sera. Has a sad ending, but it's a must see.

THE ROCK (1996, ACTION)

This movie was terrific. Cage plays a chemical scientist who is hired to disarm some nukes, along with several other men. Nic did great, and his character is very likeable.

CON AIR (1997, ACTION)

Nicolas plays a guy hitching a ride home after 8 years behind bars for accidently killing a guy while defending his pregnant wife. This was a great movie, and you just have to love Nic's long hair and Southern accent.

FACE/OFF (1998, ACTION)

Megan's favorite Nicolas Cage movie. This movie is definately a must see. Nicolas plays a terrorist who is being chased by Travolta. Great action and great fun.

CITY OF ANGELS (1998, ROMANCE/DRAMA)

If you like weepy love stories, this is the movie for you. It will have you crying for a week! This is a great, yet sad, movie about an angel who falls in love with a heart surgeon. The chemistry between Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan was exellent, a must see!

SNAKE EYES (1998, ACTION)

A sleazy detective is at a boxing match and finds himself caught up in an assassination plot. The plot is very weak, but Nic's role in the movie is definately worth the price of admission. He is outstanding!

8MM (1999, DRAMA)

A widow finds a pornographic 8mm film reel in her late husband's vault and hires a detective (played by Nicolas) to investigate the orgin of the tape and to find out if a murder depicted on the tape is real or not.

BRINGING OUT THE DEAD (1999, DRAMA)

Cage will play a burned out paramedic who starts coming unglued after one of his patients dies. His wife, Patricia, will star in it also.
